PARENT-CHILD RELATIONSHIP

PARENT-CHILD RELATIONSHIP
How would you feel if your father calls you on a valentine's day and says to you as a daughter 'Play safe today'? That was one of the shocking revelation at the gold in the slum meeting today as we had to look at family reconciliation.
the meeting moderated by Florence udu had UKC at his musical best again before NACA was brought in to set the house on fire.
Praise came up stage to ask if the young people in the house had issues they were currently contending with their parents?
A couple of the young people had issues ranging from inability of their parents to understand them to lack of love on the part of the fathers. As a matter of fact a young man stood up to say his father never cared about him while a young lady said her father would always abuse her each time she asks for N20 from him.
It was an open forum in which people who had gone through the experience were asked to assist the young people in resolving the issues.
Praise eventually had to talk about Parent-Child relationship as he emphasised the ned for the children to forgive their parents. Some of the negative vices we have had to go through are as a result of the absence of the fathers and he challenged the people to make up their minds to be better fathers.
It wasn't the intention of our fathers to treat us badly. The economy of some of them went bad and led to gross frustration while they tranfered the agression on the children.
In the midst of these even though the mothers got a pass mark Praise made the people realised that the greatest favor the fathers have done was facilitating our birth because if the man had changed his mind at the point of ejaculation there won't have been us and we have to remain grateful for that.
The forgiving heart he said is the heart that is willing to forgive before the offence is committed and we must forgive.
Love is all that matters and that love we must offer our fathers. It may not be easy but we must do it.
Of a particular interest was Destiny's case who got to the extent of fighting physically with his father because of his ill treatment and discovered that things stood still for him until he went back to apologize.
We still need the father's blessings and can always get it if we are willing to pay the prize of humility. Praise reminded the people that no matter how difficult a pareson is he must have a soft spot and anybody that is willing to pay the price will surely win his heart.
We can do it if we let go of our ego and win back our fathers again
Praise rounded up the meeting by exposing the fact that most of the greatest men in the world today had no fathers around them to call 'My Father' but succeeded at all cost and that is why we must succeed as well.
WE CAN! WE WILL! WE MUST

SUCCESS FACTORS

It was a wonderful time as Mr. Felix Ekpa started with an inspiring story. He then went further to begin a review of his last two teachings. The people were then asked to comment on how much they’ve learnt in the last two teachings
He told a story of a young man who called all the villagers that he could walk on a water .On the announced day everybody came out to see this man. He started by taking the first step up till he crossed to the other side of the river. The villagers applaud him and the media ask him how he did it he said really I walk on water but is just that I know where the stones are which means that life is like a river. If you know the principles to apply then people will applaud you for being able to walk on a river
He emphasized that applying the things you learn is the key to moving up to the next level. You must be persistent as you move on to your desired destination.
He introduced a colleague Mr. Emore Ogho who spoke on success factors for staying relevant in a flattening world.

7 STEPS TO ACHIEVING FINANCIAL FREEDOM

FELIX EKPA
7 STEPS TO ACHIEVING FINANCIAL FREEDOM
It was another fantastic session as Felix started his session with a story of a woman whose children gave her a surprise birthday bash and they gave her all sorts of bizarre birthday gifts including a parrot that was trained in a seminary to read the bible in Hebrew and English.
But to their surprise she appreciated them and told them how much she appreciated the gifts but discovered that most of the gifts were not relevant. She appreciated the one that sent a car and a house but to the one that sent the parrot. She said ‘Thanks for sending a wonderful chicken that I found so delicious after I killed and ate it. Apparently she had no clue to what the parrot could do and she killed and ate it.

His thoughts today was on steps to achieving financial freedom
The 7 steps are as follows

GOAL SETTING AND PLANNING –
A goal is a dream with a date on it. There is no successful person without a clear cut written down goal. Planning is the step by step processes that will take you to the end point.
Writing your goals down is not enough; you must be able to put in motion the steps to getting there.

USE YOUR TIME WISELY-
You waste your life every time you waste time. You lose money every time you waste time. Assuming you have N86,400 credited into your account everyday for you to spend daily because at the end of each day you won’t be able to spend it the next day. How would you go about it?
The truth is that everyday you have 86,400 seconds on a daily basis so each day that you waste you waste 86,400seconds.

GO AFTER THE CARROT –
Most of us want to be successful but we fail to follow the steps it takes to get to that destination. Fix your eyes on what you want to do and achieve and let go of the pains of the process. The pain would be forgotten once you achieve your goal so the gain of the glory (goal) should motivate us to achieve inspite of the pain.
Sometimes in life we must become deaf to negative criticism because people can stop you once you start listening to what they have to say about your dream.

PEOPLE FORM HABITS AND HABITS FORM FUTURES
Successful people take the pain to form the habits that can take them to their dreams. If you don’t set your sail right as a ship the wind can’t work in your favour.
Opportunity comes to all but how prepared are we for the opportunities. What are the skills you are learning now and how relevant are they towards your future?

LITTLE DROPS OF WATER MAKES AN OCEAN
One person that does the right thing is able to influence others to go in the same direction. It may not make any difference now but after some time the difference would be so obvious for all to see. The little decisions and little decisions you take today can make a mighty difference in your future.
Our greatest fear isn’t that we are incapable; our greatest fear is that we are powerful beyond measures.

BE PERSISTENT
You must never give up in the face of adversity. You just need to do it one more time. Even when it doesn’t look as if it’s working, keep at it. Quitters don’t win and winners don’t quit.

DON’T WAIT FOR PERFECT CIRCUMSTANCES
Start now
Improve until it’s good
Finish
Get feedback
Polish it until it’s very good.

He ended with a powerful message that your destiny is in your hands

I KISSED POVERTY GOODBYE

I KISSED POVERTY GOODBYE –
FELIX EKPA – 3rd February 3, 2008

FINANCIAL EMPOWERMENT
What a way to start today’s meeting than the inspiring story of our guest speaker who spent 8years studying a 4 year course. From a no future background from a ghetto in Port-Harcourt with bad grades all through primary school he was off loaded to Lagos and gradually started picking himself up.
Without a certificate but a willingness to serve Felix rose to become an executive at Generis Solutions one of the finest consulting firms in Nigeria.
What on earth would make a man rise from such an impoverished background and become who has become today
D E C I S I O N
- We don’t have to accept our circumstances, but we must accept our beginnings and then decide our end. Decision determines destiny
HOW DO YOU GET TO YOUR DESTINY?
1. STRONG DESIRE – A desire that is stronger than death.
• Champions aren’t made in the gyms. They are made from something they have deep inside the- a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have he skills and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill – Mohammed Ali
2. IMAGINATION – Imagination is what sets the pace for destination
You are the only person that can limit yourself. No one else will and could but you. There is something in you that the whole world needs.
Everybody can be rich if we all decide to be rich.
3. Talk doesn’t cook the rice – knowing is not enough, we must be willing to apply; willing is not enough, we must do.
You won’t move forward complaining about your environment. The fact that you wish about something doesn’t mean you will get it. However you must move your want from a wish to a desire.
A wish changes nothing, a decision changes something but an action changes everything
Felix Ekpa.
